Student Policies
We, the staff of I-N Touch School of Massage Therapy would like to welcome you as a new student to our school. As part of our commitment to serve you with a quality education and future career development, we have designed this handout to help your transition as a student go smoothly. This school, along with the massage profession are in a state of expansion and are pleased that you have come aboard with us as we strive to stay on the cutting edge of vocational education in this fast growing field.
Notice of a Non-Discrimination Policy

Classroom Behavior
Sexual Harassment Policy, I-N Touch School is committed to providing an environment safe from harassment and sexual intent by providing specific guidelines for our students and staff.
We have ZERO tolerance for sexual harassment, intent or innuendos and have a confidential, safe procedure in place for persons to present a claim.

Conduct
Students will be expected to conduct themselves at all times in a professional, nurturing and supportive manner. Inappropriate behavior may result in a written warning or expulsion from the program. The school strictly enforces the practice of modesty with regard to the profession. Students are expected to maintain the classrooms and school equipment at the same high levels expected in a professional clinic.

Dress and Attire
With the exception of clinic, comfortable loose fitting clothing will be accepted as long as the student is clean and well groomed. We want an atmosphere conducive to learning and feel that our students' comfort level will enhance their ability to learn.

Attendance and Tardiness Policy
Attendance is mandatory according to the Rules of the Board of Education, which monitors the activities of this institution. Each faculty member records your attendance each day in an Attendance Book located in the instructors office. Attendance constitutes a part of the criteria needed for graduation from the school.
We understand that there will be times that is impossible for you to attend class. On such occasions a telephone call to the school or a personal presentation to an instructor will constitute as an excused absence. Four (4) absences in a one-month period will be considered excessive and can be considered as grounds for probation. If excused absences are not made up at a time arraigned by the faculty, the student will not be given any credit for that block of classes. A letter of probation, listing grounds for dismissal will be given to the student and the student will then have a given amount of time to rectify the situation.
Day classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. evening classes promptly at 4:00 p.m.. It is essential that you arrive prepared to start class at that time. Lateness also will be recorded and three (3) late arrivals will be considered one (1) day's absence. Habitual tardiness will result in a meeting with the director and possible disciplinary action.

Graduation requirements
1. Tuition paid in Full
2. Attendance meets school policy
3. Minimum average of 70% in each course
4. Completion of specially assigned projects and Internship and required courses
5. Compliance with rules and regulations of the school while maintaining professional standards at all times

Make-up Procedures
When a class is missed, the student must arrange to make-up the class with the faculty member whose class was missed. At that time, you will need to obtain a Make-up voucher that must be signed at the time the class is made up by both the instructor and the student. These vouchers are available from the front office.

Withdrawal
Students who decide to voluntarily withdraw from the program, for any reason, must have an Exit interview with the program director. During this meeting the student will sign a Withdrawal Statement for their academic records, documenting the reasons for their withdrawal. The administration will then inform the student of the amount of time spent in the program and therefore:
A: What refund, if any is owed to them
B: What obligations they may still owe to the program as per the enrollment agreement
Re-instatement provisions
In the event that a student has been terminated for any reason, they have the right to request a re-instatement with the Administrator. All decisions are at the discretion of the school staff.

Refund Policies

Applicants not accepted by the school are entitled to a full refund of all monies paid

Accepted students who provide the school with a written cancellation notice prior to the first day of class will be given a full tuition refund, minus the $50.00 application fee.

All other students who are either terminated or withdraw will be given a percentage of their tuition back as follows:
- Refunds will be made within 20 days of the receipt of notice of withdrawal or termination notice.
-Some special circumstances including long term illness, accident or death which are unforeseeable will be given special consideration and the school agrees to reach an agreement that will be fair to both parties.

Policy Regarding Alcohol and Illegal Drugs
Any student who uses, possesses or distributes illegal drugs is subject to immediate dismissal. In addition, the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the school site or attendance while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not permitted.
In compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989, all students of I-N Touch School are notified of the following policies.

The possession, use and /or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol at I-N Touch school or school-authorized activity are prohibited.

Students found possessing, using, or distributing drugs or any other controlled substance will be subject to full criminal penalties under local municipality, State and Federal law. Conviction can result in sanctions including probation, fines, and imprisonment.

Students found in violation of this prohibition will be subject to dismissal from the program via the following steps:
When it is discovered that a student is in violation of the above stated policy, the appropriate I-N Touch personnel will confront the student immediately. Individuals confronted may be asked to leave the school immediately, and the school will notify the proper authorities, if applicable. That student will be subject to dismissal from the program.
Instructors, administrators and other I-N Touch personnel have the discretionary power to confront a student with a suspicion that the student is in violation of this policy.
Any student taking a psychotropic or mood altering prescription drug or over the counter drugs that have behavior altering side-effects is required to inform the instructor as it may affect the ability to give or receive a massage.

Disciplinary Action
Failure to comply with I-N Touch school policies will result in verbal reprimand or warning, written reprimand or warning, probation and/or expulsion form the program.

Kitchen/ break room
Our break room is equipped with a refrigerator, coffee pot, and microwave for the convenience of the students.

Student Records
Student records will be kept on file at the schools administrative office, where students may view their files at anytime during office hours. These files are confidential and viewable only by the student and staff or Department of Education officials, any other release must be by written request from the individual student. Additional copies of your transcripts may be purchased by sending $10.00 with a written request, additional copies of your diploma $30.00 and a written request to the Office of I-N Touch School.

Grading System
Student progress in each course of the curriculum is assed by regular examinations given throughout the term. In addition to these written exams a student is required to pass various practical examinations designed to assess an individual students ability to perform the skills associated with massage therapy. We will be using the following grading scale:
A 90-100% Excellent
B 80-89% Good
C 70-79% Passing
S Satisfactory completion
U Unsatisfactory completion
Below 70% is an unacceptable passing grade
Students must pass each segment of the program with a grade of 70% or above in order to graduate. Students may obtain their grades at any time upon request. A diploma will be issued upon completion of the massage therapy course and students will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.

Midterm Review
There will be a midterm review of each student. This review is designed to let the student know how they are doing in the program. In the case of a student having excessive absences, poor test or practical scores, there will be a meeting with the Director to determine if the student will be able to continue in this program. If a student is unable to meet the requirements pertaining to test scores and class hours, the Director of the school will determine if the student will be allowed to complete the course. Some conditions for dismissal include but aren't limited too the following:
· Failure to fulfill the requirements of academic probation
· Failure to adhere to the attendance or tardiness policy
· Attending classes under the influence of alcohol or drugs
